A Swiss national was found dead at the house of an Australian citizen in San Kamphaeng district, police said yesterday.

The body of Raphael Baumann, 29, was found yesterday morning at the house of Gordon Koschwitz, 33, said Major Montri Chaingammuang of San Kamphaeng police station. An autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.

Baumann sustained a bruise and deep cut on his right eyebrow, which police suspect was the result of impact with a hard object.

A doctor said the man had been dead for more than 12 hours before police were called.

Police also found a towel soaked with blood at the back of the house, Montri said.

Koschwitz, who reported the death, told police that Baumann died after slipping and falling. He and domestic staff were taken for questioning to San Kamphaeng police station.

It is believed that Baumann’s visa had expired, said Police Region 5 commander LtGeneral Panupong Singhara Na Ayutthaya.
