Guest Posted January 13, 2005 Report Share Posted January 13, 2005 On page 6 of today's Bangkok Post was a small article titled [color:"blue"] Sex Slavery charge [/color] PROSTITUTION: Tourist police yesterday arreseted an Uzbekistani man accused of forcing a woman from his country into prostitution and extorting money. Umarkul Ergashev, 30, was arrested in front of a hotel in Soi Suthisarn Winijchai 3 in Phayathai area. Tourist Police commander Maj-Gen Panya Mamen said the woman, 24, lodged a complaint on Monday saying she had been duped by Mr. Ergashev who promised her a secretarial job in Singapore and too her there on Dec. !. a day later he too her to Malaysia, saying that he could not find a job for her. He then forced her to accomany him to Thailand, saying her daughter would be abducted and hurt if she did not obey. The woman said she and Mr. Ergashev arrived in Thaialnd on Dec. 15 [color:"red"] and she was forced into prostituition at the Grace hotel on Sukumvit Soi 3. The man had taken 54,140 baht from her.
