steve48
You may have seen this before but just in case you haven't be aware: All United Kingdom expatriate staff should beware of an apparent new '419' type scam letter, arriving by surface mail from England, purportedly from the UK Inland Revenue. The letter is very professionally done and has allegedly fooled a few British residents into returning an enclosed "official" form in a prepaid envelope provided! The letter is clearly a means of identity theft/possible false passport appropriation and UK/European residential property robbery. It appears that one Brit, who returned the form, now has major problems trying to cancel bank accounts/CC, mortgage and savings accounts, not to mention notifying the passport issuing authority. It may well crop up for Canadian/US and other European expatriates as well, as these types of fraudulent acts normally do. Also the letter may appear in other forms or languages. Please be advised not to return any type of "official" looking letter for tax or otherwise, which requests DOB , nationality, home address, account and other personal details. If at all worried about any type of letter of this nature - please verify its authenticity through official channels - company security rep/embassy/consulate.
