hi,

I have been cruising the air asia website and see that there are flights (ex BKK) to Macau from around 1k bht or xiamen for about 1.6K bht. I am thinking about going for a look, anyone got any good tips on places to visit and things to do in both day and nightime. my interests include drinking, eating and girls.

I would say it is worth a look. I've spent only a few days there and got the impression it is the "Pattaya of China" with huge sanuk going on in the "Chinese style" behind closed doors. There aren't too many westerners going there for sanuk, maybe because it is quite expensive. Would be good to get the full run down from a trusted local but here is what I have picked up to date:

General

- HK$ are fine (lose slightly on the forex translation)

- The place gets going late, no silly closing times

- Has Portuguese cusine which could be a nice change if you are based in Asia

- Possibly quiet away from the weekends

- Town is booming with lots of construction going on (casinos, hotels)

- Prices vary during the week/weekend and chinese holidays, worth checking out first

- Girls features tend to be chinese (not many dark brown Isaan lovelies)

Sanuk

There is a place called Jai Alai that is within walking distance of the ferry terminal. It has a soapy massage type service for HK$1,500/1,600 US$190. Service was excellent with very attractive thai/vietnamese/some european girls. Select them from a fishbowl. All the taxi drivers know it, insist they take you there and not somewhere else. I found out what an "ice bj" is whilst there.

There are fancy places that look like "Posiedon" in Bangkok with seemingly even higher prices (thai, viet, russian girls). I do wonder whether Macau runs chinese / foreigner prices - anyone know? I found it quite hard not to look like a newbie (don't speak any mandarin/cantonese). I saw plenty locals walking out with a 1 or 2 very, very hot girls.

You could take a sauna bath / massage for HK$3/400 including the massage. I found this relaxing. I assume hjs/sex are available in a majority of these places for extra. Massage was Shainghai style "girl walks down your back". There are hundreds of these. On balance I prefer a good thai traditional massage but this is worth trying.

The Mandarin Oriental seems to be the best pick up joint for freelancers, they seem to go for HK$1,000 or less on negotiation. Some quite stunning Mongolian girls there during my visit.

I'm sure there is lots more and I have just scratched the surface. So if you go, report back!

Things to do /see

Gamble

The place is full of mainland chinese groups coming in for the casinos. It is quite something to see scruffy and or badly dressed mainlanders throwing their money around in the (1,000s of $). Worth seeing even if you are not into gambling.

Westin Hotel (20 mins taxi ride) from the action is situated in a peaceful, beautiful spot and has adjoining golf course.

Cheaper digs in town.

For portuguese/chinese heritage per your guidebook

Health warning:

My Macau adviser advised that it is not a place you want to get into trouble (stay out of the vip rooms in the casinos - they are for the triads, don't hit on the locals girlfriends, argue over small change etc. etc.) I had no problems at all during my visit but it seems sensible to relay the advice I received.

Any other questions let me know.

Been to Macau a few time but not recently.

The place in the Jai Alai is called Darlings and yeah its always been pretty good for a soapy normally good choice of girls from all over the place Thailand , Vietnam, Phil's , Korea and Russia. There is also a Darlind II but not sure where that is.

If you are going there via Hong Kong ferry terminal ( i know you are not ) they have lots of travel agents with books of pictures of the girls and details of all the massage/karaoke joints available, so you can book in advance.

Some of the Hotels have Karaoke place where you can get girls also, I remember the Holiday Inn used to have a place called Club Mo Mo which used to have theme nights, I always remember the S & M theme night they had there always thought that was quite amusing in a Holiday Inn. And of course all the hotels have massage places.

As for free lancers they are all over the place hanging out in the Hotel lobbies, on the street behind the Holiday Inn there are normally 20-30 of which normally a few are of moderate quality, mostly mainland Chinese. The Russian girls always used to hang out on the street near the Lisboa hotel/casino.

The basement shopping arcade of the Lisboa used to be an amazing sight so many mainland Chinese free lancers just walking around waiting to be picked up, it was worth going there just to take a look at that.

In general Macau was always a little bit seedy but a lot of fun. Now they are opening a bunch of Vegas style casinos and trying to clean the place up a bit.

Cannot give you any real up to date information since its been a while since I was there

Hi!

Haven't been there since 1991 but then it was very rare to find a local that spoke English. This included the taxi driver that drove me from the ferry terminal. He didn't have fucking clue what a hotel was. Luckily enough I had it written with Chinese characters. Has this changed anything since?

regards

Not as easy as Hong Kong but generally yes, people do speak either excellent english or enough to get you by.

I guess it is a lot more expensive now too, progress comes at a cost! Hoping to arrange a trip to Shenzen next which is said to be considerably cheaper.

Cheers,
