Sex tourism is becoming fashionable

In Holland a famous artist (Peter Klashorst) was recentely portrayed in a magazine as a sex tourist enjoying the women of Kenia.

This week the release of the new book of the very fashionable French author Michel Houellebecq (Particules Elementaires/Atomised) has caused quite a stir in France because of its subject matter: Sex tourism in Thailand.

Guardian article: http://books.guardian.co.uk/news/articles/0,6109,541092,00.html

Quotes like "Houellebecq's novel is aimed at showing that people in the west have forgotten how to love. As a result of this sexual incapacity, he claims, the sex tourism industry was born, supported by 'millions of individuals who have nothing to sell but their bodies'." suggest that the author might well be a frequent reader of this or similar boards ;-)

Anyway, incidents like these might be interpreted as a sign that sex tourism is gradually becoming acceptable in the mainstream.
