Public Phones and Cards for Local Calls

(I didn't get much of a response to this posting in the Tech Forum. Maybe that was the wrong place. Let me try it here...)

 

First, I don't want a mobile phone. I don't want to receive phone calls from one girl when I'm with another. I don't like phones anyway.

 

When I was in Pattaya earlier this year I noticed that the tables around the streets that sell mobile time had become cheaper. Before 3 baht/minute, now two baht/minute. The tables were much scarcer, I presume because of the lower price. Also there never have been any along Beach Road.

 

I often used the coin phones in front of 7/11 and scattered about in other places. They are crap! They work half the time. Half the time you get a network busy signal.

 

So...what about public phones that take cards?? Which one to use? Where to buy card? How to ask for card in Thai?
