He stopped over in Thailand on his way to the UK and never leave since then. He's been living here for about 11-12 years. I don't know how he learns Thai eg . in formal class room or from his gf. But his determination is tremendous. He just got his BA from Ram Uni. All his uni work was all in Thai eg. lectures, written exams, etc. Though his spoken Thai is pretty good but still a lot of Thais can tell that he's non-thai just by listening to him. Just one point: Nam Som = Orange Juice Nam Suam = Toilet water This would be about the same like I as a German Speaker would mix up house with mouse. Therefore, has nothing to do with pronounciation or context. On the other hand: Nam Som = Vinegar (pronouncitation absolutly same as for Orange juice) Here context is everything.
