Malaria in Thai??

I thought there was some sort of Thai bureaucracy set up to "modernize" the Thai language by adding words borrowed from other languages, mainly Sanskrit. Seems to me that if they're making the attempt to improve it, this comment doesn't apply.

But in my experience, there is some pretty rich vocabulary in Thai, particularly in the areas of food, family and vulgarities. Probably others too but I don't know enough Thai to comment further.

malaria= khai jupsun

dengue fever= khai saa

p.s.I remember I had a friend in hospital a

number of years ago with dengue fever and they called it khai luat ook then but Im sure khai saa is the proper name
