Flashermac
THE NATION 10 April 2006 Supreme Court upholds EC's decision to disqualify Chuwit Former Chat Thai Party MP Chuwit Kamolvisit's hope to contest the April 19 senatorial election was completely dashed Monday when the Supreme Court upheld the Election Commission's decision to disqualify him. The court ruled that the EC had made the right decision to disqualify Chuwit because Chuwit used to be an MP before his status was terminated by a ruling of the Constitution Court on January 26. The court said the Constitution required that an MP must leave office for at least a year before he or she could contest a senatorial election.
