WorldFun
it seems to be specifically targeted at the police so why would tourists worry
Prosal
Violence has always been prevalent in Sao Paulo. Yet shootouts between traficantes and Policia Militar usually happen in the poor suburbs or in the favelas, and rarely (maybe two times every year) in the South zone. Same for Rio de Janeiro. It's big news when it occurs. Today the rich areas are also targeted by the PCC members. Bus burned, banks attacked, 81 people (58 cops) killed till now, ect. Not talking about the 67 prisons rioting. What happens is VERY serious even for a country used to extreme violence. ::
Prosal
More than 110 supposed "bandidos" have been killed since the beginning of the Policia Militar (and the extermination groups) retaliation. And it's just a start. Sao Paulo will surely be over the next few monthes a VERY nervous place to be. ::
Guest
Get out of the city and come to the coastal litoral SP. My cousin now is traveling in Santos areas. He said the SP coast is still very peaceful as usual.
