SoiledCowboy
Sitting on my balcony looking out to sea, even despite several Tooheys New, just saw the most fasinating flouro green shooting star...it hit the atmosphere and then bounced off and downwards...best I've ever seen. Flashermac
Used to see a fair number of shooting stars when I lived upcountry, where the air was clear as could be. In parts of Bangkok sometimes you're lucky to see the sun.
Bkkbound04
Well a couple of hours ago I sat watching the A380 fly across the skyline towards heathrow, its certainly big.. JP
Flashermac
Saw a photo of it on the internew. Damn ... what kind of runway does that thing need?
chuckwoww
Normall 150 ft wide runway. 747 wings already overhang that. Some airports are thinking of widening the shoulder to 200 ft.
Bkkbound04
Having watched it land at heathrow it seemed the body of the aircraft certainly took up more space on the runway and the more pronounced overhang of the wings made it look like it was landing on a narrow strip. SoiledCowboy
The 380 is a big machine alright. It's maybe those extra-big wings and engines that make the thing look awesome, it flew low over Sydney a few months ago on its flight downunder and was a great spectacle in the morning light. On something only just related, when checking out cheap BKK fares yesterday on the net, the Thai aircraft was a 747-200 series - how old is this? 25,26 or 27 years old, I actually remember catching 200 series flights across the ditch (NZ) when I was a very young man...yonks ago...and Thai are still flying them? Knew that they used some 200's for North American service, but have only seen Thai 400's in Sydney, wonder why they're putting 200's on this route, or have they been doing so already and haven't noticed?
