Best country in western hemi for gf many day

Whats the best country where you can find a lady CHEAP for a couple of day trip to show you around her country in the Western hemisphere. South of the border of course. I guess it can't be gotten for $20 like in Thailand. I got a short vacation period after my trip to Thailand that I don't want to have to mess with jet lag and was just wanting to do some thinking about my next trip.

The price seems right for Cuba but I have two concerns. I've heard local girls sometimes get harrased by the police when they are seen with a tourist?! Also aren't most of the cheaper prostitutes of African orgin? My tastes prefer a latino over an african.

I haven't actually been to Cuba, but several friends of mine have. Judging from the stories and photos they brought back, I'd be on the next plane out there if I weren't married (to a TG). To answer your question, they come in all colors, and if it's Latinas you like you'll be in paradise. Also, my friends said they never had a problem with the police but crackdowns do happen occasionally. So just be alert and don't drink too many Cuba Libres.

you're right about the cuban girls, they're great. but they do get hassled all the time and it's not unusual for them to get arrested for just being with a tourist (the polizia won't bother you at all, but it's upsetting when your girl gets taken away and you can see that she's afraid and you know you are responsible for this).

also i found that it's pretty important to know some spanish - the best girls are the non-pro locals you can pick up easily anywhere but they often don't speak english.

Would you consider Rio to be too far? It is your best bet, if you can make it. Costa Rica would be my second choice.

The best STARTing points in those countries are Help Disco in Copacabana (Rio), and the Del Rey Hotel (San Jose Costa Rica).

I highly recommend you forget the idea about Cuba. Been there and it just ain't that great. Can't bring girls back to your hotel room so you need two. One room to satisfy immigration (in a tourist hotel) and one to bring girls back to (some dive you rent from a local). And you need some Spanish to arrange this. Most of the girls in the biz are decidedly African in descent. Add to all of this the excessive pain you'll receive on return if you can't convince Cuban immigration to not stamp your passport and you have a recipe for disaster.

Been to Costa Rica too and agree that this is probably your best bet. The girls tend to a little bit much around the hips for my tastes and the better looking ones tend to be overly professional. But there are a few worth enjoying and you will occasionally get really lucky and get a great one (like I did last trip). Much costlier than LOS though. A short term trip ends up being more cost effective though as airplane is cheaper. Stay at Hotel Presidente in San Jose (right around the corner from Blue Marlin Bar (located in the Hotel Del Rey) which is the main pick up spot) and you'll be OK. Check their web site for more info.

If you go to San Jose, do try out Club Idem (if it is still there) and avoid the casinos.

Just found that my original trip report on San Jose is still posted (in four parts). Here's a link to part I.

I can't speak about the girls in Cuba (I was with a GF when I went there), but I can to some of these other concerns. I sure did see some mighty fine looking girls in some of the nightclubs though. This was 2 years ago however...

My understanding is that the imigrations officials are used to Americans and don't stamp the passport, but a separate piece of paper. That was my experience, and the experience of every American I've talked to who's been. Still, good idea to ask not to stamp. Don't think there is much to worry about here.

As for accomodation, my GF and I had no problem getting out of tourist hotels. We booked 3 days in a tourist hotel, but then when that that was up, just moved to a 'casa particular' recommended by a friend. May take of bit of inquiry on some other board to find a guest friendly place. I'd recommend tsmtravel.com. Like $30 but worth it. Info is valuable! Heck, I'd recommend them anyway - you'll get way better info on western hemisphere than on a Thailand board.

but on both entry and exit the immigration lady acted like she needed convincing. Maybe it was just an act.

The other issue I had to deal with was that immigration didn't allow entry without confirmation of stay in a tourist hotel. So there were a couple of shills outside of immigration that would book you into a hotel. Wanted full stay paid up front but was able to negotiate it down to one night (much hemming and hawing by immigration but they finally accepted). Thought it was a scam and figured I was out my 100 bucks but turned out legit.

Serious hassle and I like my vacations hassle free.
