Chiang Mai trains resume service

A major part of Thailand's northern train services from Uttaradit to Chiang Mai provinces have resumed after being out for three weeks.

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) announced that repairs on tracks on the major northern route -- damage caused by flash floods late last month -- had been completed and the train services on the part could resume from Monday onwards.

"The SRT can now offer its normal services from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and vice versa after having temporarily suspended the services since May 22," the head of the SRT's public relations division, Ms. Monthakarn Sriwilat, told journalists.

Passengers can call the SRT's hotline, 1690, for further information. (TNA)
