The theft of man-hole covers continues here in the Pattaya area and we joined Khun Wootisuk, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya inside Soi Boonark 5 in Naklua where local residents reported exposed draining holes along the street. The Deputy Mayor who is clearly angry at this illegal practice is now offering 20,000 Baht to anyone who can give information to him which leads to an arrest of one or more of these man-hole cover thieves. These valuable iron covers are stolen, then melted down and sold for scrap. The cops simply started checking salvage yards and found one scrap metal dealer who had about 25 of the effing manhole covers stacked up.
