Guest Posted January 5, 2002 Report Share Posted January 5, 2002 vsk-- I was in Dar es Salaam (DAR) and even took a quick day trip over to Zanzibar in mid-October.. IMHO Tanzania is not exactly the worlds friendliest place and can be "rough and tumble" for the unknowing foreigner.. I am American by citizenship and Japanese/Hawaiian by ethenticity so it will be fairly readily obvious that I am from "out of town"... My hosts and I went to a few of the local bars.. most are hotel bars.. I did spay a few ladies that were eligible, but the pickins' were slim and not that attractive... Again, IMHO... The highlight was the trip over to Zanzibar.. No women, just a day swimming... I was told that if you're looking for women you either need to find them in the local Dar es Salaam 5 star hotels (Inter-Continental for example) or get lucky and be introduced to one.. There was no "street action" that I noticed.. only a heavy police presence everywhere.. Even in heavy tourist towns like Arusha there is a noticeable lacking of women there too.. --UPSer Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
