yfs
Can anyone explain what the Privy Council is?
whosyourdaddy
The Privy council is composed of some royal cousins, high ranking generals, ex prime minister and other senior political officials. Basically a bunch of people who have the trust of the royal house and liason between the them and the people/government. Similar to the governer general in Canada and the queen in England. But I think they are probably a bit more active and respected than the governor general. They basically speak up and carry on the wishes of the the quiet steady hand of his majesty. In the future they will be having to select the successor to the Throne.

rickfarang
Thank you, whosyourdaddy, that also clears up a question about succession to which I wasn't able get a clear answer to before.
Flashermac
There has been an Accession Council since the founding of the Chakri Dynasty in 1782. Used to be composed of senior princes, but there are so few of them now that the Privy Council has more or less assumed the function.
