The women drove up in a ute, placed a boom box on the ground and proceeded to perform a synchronised dance routine against the backdrop of a half-dozen tanks. The women, dressed in camouflage tank tops tied at the midriff, black hot pants and black knee-high platform boots, danced for about five minutes, drawing a few dozen soldiers away from their tanks. "Everyone is coming with flowers. We thought we would bring something different - song and dancing," said one of the dancers, made up with thick blue eye shadow, as she handed a pink rose to a soldier and got a hearty salute in response. Thais and tourists have flocked to the tanks stationed at strategic points in Bangkok since last Tuesday's coup to take pictures with the soldiers. Ute may refer to: The Ute, a tribe of Native Americans of the Uto-Aztecan language family. Ute reservations are located in eastern Utah and southwestern Colorado. The state of Utah is named for this tribe. See also Ute mythology. ute, in Australian English and New Zealand English usage, short for "utility vehicle", the Australasian equivalent of the pickup truck. NOTE: it is ALWAYS referred to as a 'ute' never a 'ute vehicle'. Ute (pronounced as oot-e), the Queen Mother of the King of Worms in the Nibelungenlied.
