Health insurance premium can be part of the deduction if it is attached to a base life insurance plan. (50,000/ year as described above.) But not as a stand alone plan. Tax exempted income includes medical expenses reimbursed by employer. (but not premiums) New regulation this year, is that health insurance for your parents can be deducted.
