kohMarco
I've eaten vendor food many times, it's some of the best food in Thailand. But the trick is to go where there is a crowd of Thais. I even drink from the big metal water container, with the regular thais, never once gotten sick..
Guest
If your time in LOS is limited, don't spend it on the crapper. It is not worth it. 1)Never eat anything that is not served piping hot. 2)Get your hep vaccines before coming. (+ my own personal superstitious rule--> )Don't accept dishes that are set for you pre-wetted. Good luck. By the way, the food court up in MBK is as cheap and good as many street foods, and it looks safer to me. Don't learn the hard way. Or, should I say, the projectile-liquidy way. Lamock Chokaprret
I would agree that the restaurants and hotels are probably no more sanitary in their kitchens than the food stalls. Let's face it, many of the stalls live and die by their regular clientele. I eat at them frequently. The only problems I've had is with the 'kah gai' (barbecued chicken legs) being undercooked and leading me to a multi-day bout with the runs. Just ask for 'tahm suk' to make sure they're well cooked and if they look red on the inside don't eat 'em.
