ChristianTroy
You can't lock your luggage, they preserve the right to do sporadic inspections! That's ever sine 9/11 like that!

dabbish
it's pretty obvios that locking your bag won't stop customs from inspecting it if they want, even pre 9/11.
cavanami
Has anyone had a lock cut off their bag lately? What are the current rules regarding locks? Use the "TSA" locks in the USA, as they have the master keys to open. I started to use the locks and it appears that they may be too lazy to open the locks. My baggage has many "strange" items; hubs, tools, cables, etc so when I did not lock the baggage, it was getting "checked" like 90% of the time. About 10% of the time items came up missing or damaged. I was told to phone the TSA 1-800 number and file a complaint...after 30 minutes on hold, forget it and more on. Welcome to the USA... exit2dos
I have a silver aluminum Zero Halliburton suitcase with a digital lock, I leave it on the number, which opens the case. I also put while tape with the number written in magic marker. The bad guys, in the movies, always use a Zero Halliburton breifcase, for carrying cash, contraband, etc. So security, in LA, always go for it first, like Pavlov trained dogs. They are into the whole tv/movie fantasy life, out there especially.
