Des
Hong Kong is very inexpensive and a good place to pick up camera equipment if you're going to be here. To give you a basis for comparison, a friend of mine recently bought a new Nikon 995 digital camera with international warranty for US$680. That compares very favorably with the best US prices and is certainly much cheaper than Thailand, although I don't know about the UK.
Lamock Chokaprret
Panthip Plaza is on Petchaburi Rd. Any taxi driver will know it. Best for purchasing software. A recent trip to Singapore saved me about b6,000 on three items I purchased there. Unfortunately, Singapore is much more expensive than Thailand for food and housing. Straycat
Prices on electronic gadgets are not very good in Thailand. I don't know about the rest of SE Asia or the UK - but I know most stuff is cheaper in the U.S. I bought a digital camera at Panthip Plaza for 40 000 baht. The same camera is sold thru Amazon.co.uk for about £ 600. Seems to be about same, same... As said, Panthip is indeed on Petchaburi - but it's a quite long street. If you stand at Amari Watergate Hotel facing Petchaburi, you'll find Panthip on the opposite side, 100-200 metres to the right of the hotel.
