The Open Water Diver course is the most popular dive course in the world. You will be taught the foundational knowledge and skills you need to dive safely with a buddy, independent of supervision.

PADI Open Water divers

are qualified to:

Dive with a buddy independent of supervision while applying the knowledge and skills they learn in this course, within the limits of their training and experience.

Obtain air fills, scuba equipment and other services.

Plan, conduct and log open water dives and no stop (no decompression) dives when properly equipped and when accompanied by a buddy in conditions with which they have training and/or experience.

Continue their dive training with a specialty dive (Adventure Dive) in the PADI Adventures in Diving program or in Specialty courses.

OVERVIEW

The course can be completed in four days and is divided into three parts.

Knowledge Development; 5 modules, these establish a foundation of principles, procedures and general information that divers need. Knowledge Reviews must be answered before meeting the Instructor and will be reviewed with the Instructor. An exam is part of the Knowledge Development.

Confined water dives; 5 dives to establish the basic skills that all divers need in a low stress environment.

Open water dives; 4 dives where the integration takes place of the principles learned in Knowledge Development and the skills learned in the Confined Water dives.

A 200 meter continuous surface swim or a 300 meter swim with mask, snorkel and fin and a 10-minute swim/float without using any swim aids are required for certification.

Last but not least, this course is a lot of fun.
