torrenova
An interesting view of the word punter comes from the pikeys or gypsy fraternity. They dislike the word intensely though their fairground attractions relied upon "punters". As they stopped travelling, settled down and earnt an "honest" living ripping people off for this and that, they sought to disassociate themselves from their previous incarnations.
