Mentors
with all what happens around F1 these days it's time to open the 2008 topic. McLaren in no hurry to decide Alonso's successor LONDON, Nov 5 (Reuters) - McLaren are in no rush to sign a successor to departed double world champion Fernando Alonso, the Formula One team's Chief Executive Martin Whitmarsh said on Monday. However, Germany's Ralf Schumacher, now a free agent after leaving Toyota, can be ruled out of the reckoning. "Until the second McLaren drive is sorted out I don't think you'll see much movement (in the driver market), so we're not really hurried," Whitmarsh told the Guardian newspaper. http://sport.guardian.co.uk/breakingnews/feedstory/0,,-7050710,00.html Why not ask Michael Schumacher or Mikka Häkkinen? Neo
McLaren have accused Renault of stealing their secrets. Seems a solid case and Renault fired an engineer right after the allegation. The matter has been taken up by the FIA. The theft occurred during the 2006 season when Alonso & Renault pipped Schumacher & Ferrari for the titles. Guy Himmaparn
Here we go again. Now that a precedent has been set with the $100 million fine levied against McLaren, the die has been cast. On the surface there seems to be more damning evidence against Renault... ie. more data taken, more people involved, and for an entire season. Alonso may want to hold off a while on that decision to go back to Renault.... he may be stuck driving a Honda or a Toyota next year with his 2006 Championship stripped to boot...
