Flashermac
Residents on the Upper East Side are trying to cope with the shocking news of Tuesday night's horrific and fatal attack of 56-year-old psychologist Kathryn Faughey, who police say was hacked to death with a meat cleaver inside an office building on E. 79th Street and York Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. The killer is still at large. At NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly's noon news conference on Wednesday, the department released the latest sketch of the suspect. He is described as a 5-foot-9 white male, believed to be in his 40s, with blondish brown hair. He was seen wearing a three-quarter green coat, a baseball cap and sneakers. Authorities initially believed the assailant to be a patient of the murdered doctor, but police have reason to suspect no such relationship existed. Police believe the suspect escaped through a basement exit into an alley after the attack. Sweeny Todd lives

The NYPD arrested David Tarloff, a "mentally disabled" 39-year-old Queens man, on Saturday for the murder of Upper East Side psychologist Dr. Kathryn Faughey. Tarloff was taken into custody around 7:20 a.m., after investigators matched his prints with palm prints found at the bloody crime scene, said NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly. Tarloff made statements incriminating himself during a 25-minute interrogation, Kelly said. The questioning stopped when he asked for a lawyer. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney. Kelly said murder and attempted murder charges were pending. Faughey was slashed 15 times with a meat cleaver and a 9-inch knife in her Manhattan office Tuesday evening. A psychiatrist who worked in the building, Dr. Kent Shinbach, came to Faughey's aid and was badly injured. Time to ban meat cleavers
