The ferry to Penang is about one hour i think. I did it many years ago. By bus you are faster. But always important is: If you are intend to take the train, buy your train ticket early!
Flashermac Posted November 10, 2008 Report Posted November 10, 2008 Nah, the ferry ride is shorter than that. I remember wishing it would have lasted longer. The only disadvantage in flying to Penang is that you land on the island and miss the ferry ride. It's like a trip to the past. First time I did it, the RAAF were still in Malaysia. With the RAAF guys in uniform around, you could easily imagine you were back in the 1950s before independence.
