Hollywood use to have a niche market of the cheapest place to by cds in bkk. When everyone was at between 150-200B. Hollywood sold them for a 100. Unfortunately for hollywood, prices have been dropping in the past and about 50% of the orginal shops have closed down and ripped out the booths. With the drop in clients the food court which had great som tam closed. They are now trying to move some more music stores in and make it half music and software. The nailet shop has the best service in thailand for my money. The guys are great there and I buy most of my hardware there. Fortunately with the software and computer addition. Hollywood has changed there image. Before it was one of the biggest gay pick ups in bangkok. No you can not even buy gay porn . LOL. Go to the IT mall at Fortune Tower, Ratchapisek Road (right next and above the Tesco superstore).This place certainly has more stuff available than Hollywood IT. I have also heard that Hollywood is looking to get out of the cd business completely and trying to get those storeowners to offer other products. Another place worth trying is The Mall at Bang Kapi. Place seems to be booming. They have opened two adjacent buildings. One of which appears to be focusing on IT. Lots of CD outlets as well as hardware. Access via boat. The Mall has its own 'stop' In town there is a stop close to the WTC/Petcheburi Road -- 30 mins 15bt.
