PAD says no to talk with Govt

The leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy Saturday insisted in their demand for the government to resign, saying they will not participate in a talk with the government.

Speaking at a press conference Chamlong Srimuang and Somsak Kosaisuk said the PAD would not talk with the government although Senate Speaker Prasobsook Boondech offered to mediate the negotiation.

Chamlong said the five PAD leaders have not been contacted by Prasobsook so far.

On Friday, Prasobsook, House Speaker Chai Chidchob and opposition leader Abhisit Vejjajiva agreed to have Prasobsook find middle ground between the PAD and Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

Chamlong told the press conference that the talk would be useless as the PAD would adhere to its stand, demanding Samak to resign.

Udon Thani people rally to show support for Govt

Some 1,000 members of a pro-government group rallied behind the Samak Sundaravej administration Monday, on the eve of a mobile Cabinet meeting to be held in the northeastern province today.

The "We Love Udon Thani" group held their rally around Udon Thani provincial hall.

Provincial police beefed up security by deploying 700 officers and said there's no worry about violence through possible clashes between pro and antigovernment supporters but some locals are afraid that wearing the wrong colour shirt could lead to being attacked, however.

The scene at the multi-purpose lawn in front of the provincial hall was filled with people as the government launched a mobile medical clinic and set up booths to offer advise about land and agriculture. Suphot Laowansiri, governor of Udon Thani said the activities provided for local people can be considered as a one stop service.

PM: Govt to inform referendum to public in 30 days

Prime Minister and Defence Minister Samak Sundaravej said in a radio interview with economist and programme host Veera Thirapat on Thursday afternoon that the government will take 30 days to inform the public about the referendum on the governmentâ??s future.

He said the Peopleâ??s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) supporters, in the meantime, can carry on demonstrating at Government House because he can wait. :grinyes:

The number of protesters at Government House is about 3,000, according to the premier. He said the security forces surrounding the compound will let the demonstrators come out but they cannot re-enter. He said there are protesters who want to leave the place because the conditions there are no longer refreshing and clean.

Mr Samak said he will appear in different radio programmes to explain the national situation to the public.

He believed his governmentâ??s measures to solve the current crisis will be remembered for a hundred years, and he will not let others threaten him.

The prime minister said he did not expect that the civil unrest would lead to a loss of life, following the clash between the anti-government and pro-government groups. He said the PAD members want to expel him because they dislike deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The reason the government has declared the state of emergency is to allow the police and military forces to control the situation without affecting most peopleâ??s usual way of life, he explained, and he had a discussion on this matter with army chief Anupong Paojinda already.

Mr Samak expected that the emergency decree will not be enforced for long, and believed the problem will run its course and be solved.

PAD to continue its protests regardless Samak's fate

PAD leaders have vowed to continue protesting even after Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej resigned or was disqualified by the judicial review.

The five PAD leaders are expected to issue a statement outlining their stand Tuesday's morning.

Pipop Thongchai, a PAD leader, made it clear that PAD would not vacate Government House regardless of the course of action undertaken by the prime minister.

Once we get rid of Samak and the PPP it is time to get rid of the PAD as well.

I actually liked it when Anupong warned both Samak and the PAD and said if the military intervenes it will be to get rid of the both of you.

The time is coming in my opinion to get rid of both factions imho. Both of them do not give a shit about Thailand only about themselves.
