Mentors
An Englishman billed as boxing's worst loser, calls the final bell on his career tomorrow night in Birmingham when he fights for the 300th time, hoping it won't be his 257th defeat. The 39-year-old super-featherweight Peter Buckley has the worst record of anyone currently in the sport with 31 victories and 12 draws listed alongside his huge number of losses. But he still hopes to go out with a victory despite not having won a fight since a points victory five years ago. Although he has had two draws since then, he has also lost 84 times sometimes to fighters who went on to become world champions, including "Prince" Naseem Hamed, Duke McKenzie, Scott Harrison and Colin McMillan. Mentors
In a country that takes a morbid pride in its ability to lose on the fields of sporting combat, boxing journeyman Peter Buckley stands above them all. More of a flop than Eddie "The Eagle", more of constant disappointment than Tim Henman, Briton Peter Buckley is the epitome of hopelessness in the face of expectation. Buckley, officially the world's worst boxer, has announced he will add one more prospective loss to his deliciously dire career before hanging up the gloves at the conclusion of his 300th bout. In 299 outings in the squared circle since his professional debut in 1989, Buckley has amassed a record of 31 wins, 12 draws and an incredible 265 losses. http://www.smh.com.au/news/sport/meet-englands-worst-sportsman/2008/10/29/1224956188550.html Punch Peter Punch! devils reject
I wonder how many times Buckley got knocked out in those 256 losses. This bloke has either got a huge heart or he's a fecking idiot.
