Thai cash/ATM

A few questions, I'd be most grateful for experienced answers.

Can I use my ATM card (visa debit card) from the UK with Barclays in a Thai ATM?

And are there any charges if so?

Guidebooks say yes but websites seem to skip this topic.

Can I exchange the humble British pound for the majestic Thai Baht at a bureau de change establishment when I get to Thailand?

Thanks for any help offered.

Potato.

I use US Visa and MC debit cards in Thai ATMs with few problems. Some ATM chains don't accept overseas cards, but most do.

Have exchanged Canuck Loonies, Dutch Guilders, and RP Pesos at Thai Forex booths, so its a safe bet they'll take your UK pounds as well! Make sure you bring larger denominations (100 and 50) and that the bills are fairly new and in good condition.
