CCI hit 68-month low

By: BangkokPost.com

Published: 9/04/2009 at 02:43 PM The consumer confidence index (CCI) in March hit an 86-month low due to the ongoing political and economic crises, according to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Last month's CCI declined from 67.2 points in February to 66.0 points.

The confidence index of future employment and the confidence index of future income stood at 65.2 points and 87.3 points respectively.

All confidence indices went down last month due to many negative factors, such as the rising retail oil prices in the country, the Fiscal Policy Office's reduction of its economic growth projection to negative 2.5 per cent, the political uncertainty, the plunging export figure in February at 11 per cent and the weakening baht.
