What Happens to Retired BG's??

For a long time, I thought that, in Thailand, they can go back to their families and are accepted by them. But a few thoughts about that have occurred to me recently, which provokes my post:

1. A fair percentage of them are looking, I think, especially as they get older and their looks start to fade, to marry a farang. For a secure future. But wouldn't they have that from their families which, after all, more of a known quantity to them than some farang?

2. I've read that how these girls are treated is *not* the same all over Thailand- for example, it differs between the North and the Northeast.
