Lamock Chokaprret
Huang Ngoo, This is a classic example of nam jai. I just hope the girl truly appreciated what you did for her.
spirit_of_town_hall
Well Done, is Dkk, Danish Kroner? As the other posters have said in my home country I would have taken the money and run and bought a ticket to Bkk, in Thailand even though it wasnt your mistake, you could well have ended up getting the blame, and I presume they would have had your passport details. Pescator
DKK is danish kroner, that is correct. I did present my passport while exchanging the money and after I left I came to think of that I could possibly have ended up having problems at the airport had I just taken the money and left. Hopefully I left the impression that farangs are honourable people. Some of my in-laws though were not particularly impressed with my gesture. It would be more correct to say that they looked at me in total disbelief when my wife told the story although they didn`t say anything to my face. It was probably poor judgement to tell them the story all together. Hua Nguu
Guest
Ouch! I've had both experiences in the past... I've received too much local currency at an exchange booth and I've been "shorted" at an exchange bank.. Both times turned out ok.. Returned the "excess" and the bank called my hotel to make arrangements for the "short"... --UPSer
