WorldFun Posted July 12, 2009 Report Share Posted July 12, 2009 people out in traffic (traffic police, tuk tuk drivers, non a/c drivers, toll booth collectors etc etc) have worn masks as long I can remember for the primary reason of avoiding toxic fumes & hopefully there's some effect in that use? if secondary those or similar masks may offer some protection from whatever strain of flu out there more luck to them & I'm sure they're smiling a tad wider these days surely I've noticed some percentage (~1-10%?) of various 'public' workers, students, travellers whatever now wearing those masks & to be honest I'm not sure what the purpose are? 1) protect themselves from flu? 2) protect others from flu if wearers are sick? Can't stop wondering if one day masks will be made mandatory for all or certain groups & if so whether the enforcement will be similar to motobike helmets (which is assumed to bigger hazard to health)?
