I'm really only posting this for the last line in the story. Made me chuckle.

The disciplinary committee of the Royal Thai Police Office on Thursday resolved to dismiss from the police force two senior officers who were found by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to have committed a serious breach of discipline and criminal offences in two separate incidents involving People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) protesters.

The two men are Pol Lt-Gen Suchart Muankaew, Region 4 Provincial Police chief on temporary duty at the Royal Thai Police Office, and Pol Maj-Gen Permsak Paradornsak, former superintendent of Udon Thani police.

Pol Lt-Gen Suchart was found by the NACC to have breached discipline and committed criminal offences while in charge of a police crackdown on PAD protesters in front of parliament on Oct 7 last year. He was then metropolitan police chief. One PAD protester was killed in the crackdown and hundreds injured..

The NACC also ruled that Pol Maj-Gen Permsak had allowed a number of armed red-shirted people to attack PAD supporters holding an anti-government rally at Nong Prajak Public Park on July 24 last year. Many people were injured in the incident.

Pol Gen Priewpan Damapong, chairman of the disciplinary committee of which all members are deputy police chiefs, said the committee had no choice but to dismiss the two officers, based on the NACC findings.

The committee's decision will be forwarded to acting police chief Pateep Tanprasert for approval.

Pol Gen Priewpan said the two officers can petition the Administrative Court against their dismissal.

Pol Gen Suchart said he accepted the disciplinary committee's decision and would not appeal. He had served for a long time in the police force and would welcome a rest.
