From today's (Aug. 23) Bangkok Post website:

quote:

Secret cameras film shoppers undressing

Women buying clothes in shopping centres are being warned to watch out for micro-cameras hidden in dressing rooms.

Some customers trying on underwear have been secretly recorded on video compact discs for sale.

Pol Maj-Gen Chaktip Kunchorn na Ayutthaya, assistant city police chief, has promised a crackdown on the people responsible

He has also asked shopping centres to tighten up security for shoppers.

I have seen pictures like these on the Internet, but always on Japanese web sites. The subject always has their face obscured. I figured it was a popular fetish in Japan. Do Thai men get off on this kind of stuff too?

My expectation is that the CDs were intended for the Japanese market.

However, upcountry hotels used to be notorious for holes drilled in the wooden walls. Thai women when travelling would carry tape or tissue paper to plug up the holes they might find in their room's walls. My own wife has told me about this. As hotels now more and more seem to be built of brick and mortar, the peepholes seem to have disappeared. But I understand they still exist in some backpacker type guest houses.
