Any suggestions for snorkelling in and around the island - around Karon and Patong. Don't plan to go out shore to some remote island. Would be good if you can quote prices for the flippers and such. Brink15 Posted March 29, 2002 Report Share Posted March 29, 2002 Singbond, When are you going? Be very careful during the rainy season. Karon in particular sees several foreigners die every year. If the waves are low, there is an OK reef on the North end of Kata Yai beach. OK being a relative term. I used to take students to do night dives on the reef. During the day you should be able to find a moray eel or two, lots of sergeant majors, banner fish, maybe even a lionfish. As I said time of year makes a huge difference.
