For first timers I would definately suggest the overland route from BKK to Aranya Prathet cross to Poipet to Seim Reap. Spend at least 3 days checking out 'sleepy' seim reap and the Temples of Angkor Then take the $25 US Boat Ride to phnom penh. When I first visited thailand i hadn't traveled that much and thought that Thailand would be a lot less developed. Crossing the border into Cambodia can be quite an awakening of sorts. To get a true idea of what the cambodians went through pick up a book called 'First They killed My father: A Daughter Of Cambodia Remembers' by Loung Ung. It explains in detail what went down in Cambodia, by a cambodian women, then visit the splendor of Angkor Wat. Now that you have built up your reserve of good karma head down to Phnom Penh and BANG all the women!!!!!
