Flashermac
The Democrat Party should hold its major campaign rally at another place, not the Ratchaprasong intersection, Sondhi Limthongkul, a leader of the yellow-shirt People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), said on Thursday. “The question is: Why did the Democrats choose the intersection as their rally venue? I disagree with the planned rally as it is something like an incitement. It is a thing that should not be done,†said Mr Sondhi. Mr Sondhi also disagreed with the claim by Deputy Prime Minister for security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban that the rally at Ratchaprasong intersection late this afternoon is to clarify the allegations made against Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. The PAD leader said it is not necessary to make any clarification as the anti-government protests took place and that the country had been set fire to. The point is why didn’t Mr Abhisit take actions before the situation escalated? The more explanations are made, the more the weakness of the prime minister is clearly seen, he said. The Ratchaprasong intersection, a symbol of political conflict, should not be used for political gain by any political party. If they want to campaign for votes, they should do it in some other place, Mr Sondhi said. Link
