Adware aka BigBrotherware!

Well, I decided to update some of my drivers using cnet's update utility, catchup. I saw that they've included adware detection so I decided what the hell, I don't think I've downloaded any adware stuff. Holy CRAP! The result I got was like a mile long. I downloaded a FREE program called Ad-aware 5 and it located on my hardrive 180 adware files! Shit, I have no idea when all this crap accumilated on my compOOter! I don't know if db_sedaloha has covered adware but this was mindboggling! Here's some addys.

cnet catchup(software and driver updater) http://catchup.cnet.com

ad-aware(regular version is free, but I'm gonna purchase the Plus version. Only 12 bucks or so. BTW, the regular free version was the one that located and removed 180 various adware files on my pooter)

I suggest anyone who downloads programs (particularly the free ones) that they read the licence conditions very carefully before clicking on the OK button. Be very wary of the ones that feature 'Banner Ads' instead of a shareware fee. Also avoid all 'file sharing' web sites for MP3 files etc. and uninstall Real Player and Media Player. These programs are really trojans that leak info from your PC and any file sharing web site are an open invitation for people to access to your PC - beware!!!
