BBC Documentary on Drugs in Thailand

Didn't see it, but stole this interesting post on it from the Lonely Planet board, by a dude called Kananga:

 

 

 

MacIntyre is a biast idiot who doesn't really have a grasp on the reality of the situation or environment.

 

 

 

He refers to Koh Pha Ngan as the 'party island' constantly and doesn't even have the ability to call the island by it's name. Apart form the FMP on Hat Rin the island is quiet and peaceful, he gives places bad names and reputations by not really knowing much about the environment he's in.

 

Trekking into the Golden Triangle to show that the Burmese government is trafficing drugs.

 

He has obtained no first hand evidence himself about this. He just wandered around in dangerous territory, heard a few gunshots and shit himslf and ran back to camp. Well done, what a great use of my TV licence money. The Shan video footage was the only evidence he recieved, and he could have had that sent to London.

 

Considering the wdespread use and availability of the drug his trusty sidekick could only manage to obtain one pill in Bangkok and more amazingly only 3 in the middle of a FMP!!! What a pair of resorseful journalists. They talk feverously about this widespread killer drug that everyone is on sweeping through the country like a narcotic plague and can only get their hands on 4 pills the whole time they were there. Have to take your hat off to them.

 

To sum it up he showed no prior knowledge or research on Thailand, Myanmar, the drug issues or the drug itself and only provided to set a bad example for 'adventure seekers' by wandering into Burmese territory risking his life and others and coming back with no conclusive evidence whatsoever apart from some video footage that was taped by someone else at a different time!

 

 

 

Anyway, back to the FMP, didnt that stupid girl with the fire juggling put you off more? Or the crap music? litter on the beach and general population made up of twats and students?

 

 

 

Its a bag of shite. Both MacIntyre and the bloody fool moon party.
