Flashermac
On the Songkran dance beat: Women police officers perform a dance at Bangkok's Ratchaprasong intersection to raise awareness about safe driving during the upcoming Songkran festival as part of a wider campaign by police to reduce fatalities and injuries from road accidents during the holiday period. Julian2
I'll miss it for the second year in a row. If think being in Thailand during Songkran is bad try NOT being there for it.

cavanami
Had a few Thai monks here at the Gast Haus here in Austria this morning. About 50 Thai ladies showed up and they chanted for a few hours about something. Big surprise for me and that will be as close as I get to Songkran this year! Flashermac
Surprisingly quiet in my neighbourhood. Many shops and restaurants have closed and traffic is extremely light. Folks must have gone home for the holidays. Didn't see a soul out trying to get wet, until I took a taxi home and saw a handful of people out on Ratchadapisek. One group of kids was looking in vain for a water-war pickup to approach. An older guy was out with a garden hose, spraying all the cars and motorcycles that past him. So far a strange Songkran. Boo Radley
Seems some Thai guys use Songkran as an excuse to grope the gals. This guy in this video got slapped for his efforts: http://www.youtu.be/IdHXePyeoaY And these guys on Khaosan Rd were punished by the police by being made to wear signs saying: "I like to touch girls' breasts." http://asia.muslimthaipost.com/content.php?page=sub&category=85&id=10389 http://www.komchadluek.net/detail/20120414/127886/%E0%B8%8A%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A7%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%99%E0%B9%87%E0%B8%95%E0%B8%AA%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%9A%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%B0!%E0%B9%82%E0%B8%88%E0%B9%8B%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%B7%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%88%E0%B8%B1%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%99%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%AB%E0%B8%8D%E0%B8%B4%E0%B8%87.html
