Flashermac
The funeral for slain Pol Captain Sama-air Luemaewas was held yesterday morning at a mosque in Raman district. Sama-air, sub-inspector at Krong Pinang police station, succumbed to his injuries at Yala Hospital. A bomb hit him and seven other cops while they were patrolling the Krong Pinang-Ban Luemu Road. The 30-kilogram bomb was reportedly hidden in a drainage pipe running under the road and was detonated when the police vehicle drove over the spot. Police suspect this attack was carried out by a group of insurgents led by Aba Jeh-ali. Ten minutes ahead of the attack, another incident took place in Tambon Taloh Deu Raman of Pattani's Kapho district where suspected insurgents armed with AKA rifles ambushed three plain-clothes paramilitary rangers on a motorcycle on their way to gather information in the area. After a 10-minute gunfight, ranger Chakkapol Suwannaphum, 26, succumbed to wounds in his head and torso, while the other two were rushed to Kapho Hospital. In related news, Deputy Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew told a seminar of rescue workers in Narathiwat yesterday that the ministry was planning to ask the premier to grant rescue workers in the deep South an additional allowance as their work was very risky. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/national/Top-insurgents-met-before-attack-30208658.html
