And you never know if they have a gun or influential friends or whatever.

Which is why the police is not to keen on enforcing laws :p

Police rarely stop a Mercedes or BMW for this reason. It could very well belong to a phu-yai. Instead, they seem to target taxis, pickups, tuk-tuks and older Toyotas. I have heard taxi drivers bitch about that quite a lot.

Even so, ordinary traffic stops can be wild here. I remember some years back when a young policeman stopped a driver for a minor violation. As he was writing the guy up, the driver grabbed the officer's pistol from its holster and shot the policeman 3 times with it! Amazing, the policeman's companions did not blow the SOB away on the spot. They drew their weapons, and the perp dropped the pistol, immediately raising his hands. The police corporal was married, had a small child, and had just been recommended for promotion. He died. When asked why he'd shot him, the driver simply said he "was angry". :banghead:

Once again, the dangerous U-turns have not been blocked off on many of the highways! They can totally paint the road

white as there are so many accidents at these absurd U-turns.

TNL...Thais Never Learn! continue the same stupidity every year and then be surprised as the accidents and deaths increase...
