All government officials were warned today that they will face disciplinary actions if they are seen leaving their office buildings to welcome anti-government protesters, opening the gates of their office buildings to welcome them or are seen at the same tables eating with the protesters during office hours.

The stern warning was issued by Deputy Prime Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul, also advisory chairman of the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), during a meeting today of ministerial permanent secretaries.

Surapong said that all ministries would be banned from welcoming protesters from the People’s Democratic Reform Committee because protest leader Suthep Thuagsuban had declared himself a sovereign which is regarded as a sedition.

Meanwhile, justice permanent secretary Dr Kittipong Kittiyarak admitted that he was very concerned with the political conflict and would like to plead with the PDRC and the government to try to work out their differences for the sake of the country.

He urged government officials to maintain their political impartiality.

National Security Council chief Lt-Gen Paradorn Pattanathabutr said that CAPO just wanted government officials to remain neutral and not support the PDRC because the protest group has broken the law.
