Protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban accused the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) of deliberately putting pressure on the Constitutional Court and the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

Addressing People’s Democratic Reform Committee’s supporters at Lumpini Park Thursday night, Suthep said CAPO director Chalerm Yubamrung, citing reports from the National Security Council and the Special Branch Police, claimed that chaos would break out should caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra be found guilty by the court or by the NACC.

He questioned CAPO’s scope of authority for calling on the Constitutional Court and NACC to do their jobs honestly and in a straightforward manner.

The prime minister has asked for a 15-day extension of the deadline to defend herself against the charge of abuse of authority regarding the removal of Thawil Pliensri as the chief of the National Security Council.

Suthep said the extension was intended to buy more time for the prime minister in her defence.

He also urged Chalerm to speed up charging public health permanent secretary Dr Narong Sahamaethapat for accepting a gold whistle worth more than 3,000 baht from the PDRC some time ago.

Suthep explained that the whistle was not meant for Dr Narong alone but for all public health officials.
