Deposed Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will face impeachment in the upper house over a costly rice-pledging scheme in a ruling which could see her banned from politics for five years.

"The commission considers there is enough evidence to indict (Yingluck) and refers (the case) to the Senate," Panthep Klanarongran, chief of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) said in a press conference.

NACC on Thursday unanimously agreed to indict Yingluck for allegedly having intent to exercise power against Article 178 of the Constitution concerning rice-pledging scheme.

The anti-graft agency will forward the case to the Senate to seek Yingluck's impeachment. If found guilty, Yingluck, who was removed from the premiership on Wednesday over abuse of power over unlawful transfer of a senior official, will be banned from politics for five years.

The anti-graft agency will further investigate to decide whether to take criminal charge against Yingluck for allegedly dereliction of duty under Section 157 of the Criminal Court and Negligence of duty under the Commission Act BA 2542.

Perhaps the NACC, the Constitutional Court, and the Electoral Commission should form a new party for the next elections..after all they seem to be deciding the composition of the government despite the clear mandate of the majority of Thai voters.

Oops sorry..they have already done so..it’s called the PDRC.

Quiz question: what does the “R†actually stand for?

..Reline our pockets

..Revert to 2001 status quo

..Reassert our power over the plebs

..Reduce Thailand to negative growth

..Ready for the gravy train, bro's?

in case someone should have overlooked the tiny detail...newly installed CARETAKER PM is also accused in the rice scheme scam by NACC so he will conveniently be booted out too after a few days in office 55555555555555

1 step ahead and 999 steps back :neener:

In the 2011 election 48% voted for Pheu Thai. 52% voted for other parties.

Now don’t be shy, Flash. Do tell us what percentage of the people’s votes the Democrats won...remember, this same mob who are now jumping up and down causing mayhem (with apparent impunity from the "unbiased"..ho ho ho..courts) and saying they represent “the Thai people†and will appoint an unelected “people’s council.â€..and were too gutless to test what the majority of Thai voters thought of them in 2014 because they would lose yet again, so decided to boycott and use armed gangs to disrupt the people’s choice instead.

The full not sanitized version is here http://en.wikipedia...._election,_2011

Pheu Thai 48.41% of the popular vote main opposition party Democrats 35.15%

...and after the elections Pheu Thai formed alliances with some of the minor parties because they shared common policies.

Now I was never as good as Ben Affleck at counting cards in Vegas, but that's what I call a majority. More real live Thai citizens, who are justifiably pissed off at being continually disenfranchised, and who prefer Pheu Thai to Abhisit, Suthep and his cronies.

Governing systems that require construction of a coalition before selecting the Boss tend to have interesting things happening down at the splinter party level.

Israel is the best-known example of this one.

Russia is a particularly interesting case. Their new election law required a party to get at least 10% of the votes cast in order to get ANY seats in the Duma. There were a BUNCH of splinter parties. Only one party got past the 10% line, and that's how the Communist Party of the Soviet Union recaptured Russia without firing a shot.
