United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship chairman Jatuporn Promphan hit back at Army Commander-in-Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha’s seven-point statement issued on Thursday.

He said that the military had no responsibility whatsoever to resolve the political conflict but to defend the country and that the role to resolve the conflict rests with the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order.

In response to the army chief’s warning the use of war weapons against the protesters by unidentified elements, Jatuporn said he wondered whether the army chief was preparing to impose martial law.

He went on to ask whether General Prayuth wanted to convey a message the army might stage a coup when the latter said that the army would deploy full force to deal with the violence.

Jatuporn asked why the military just sat idly by and did not issue any condemnation statement afterward when anti-government protesters tried to break into the conference room of the Royal Thai Air Force where a meeting was going on between the government and the Election Commission on Thursday.

Jatuporn is struggling for his political and financial life. He knows that if Thaksin loses power, no one else would want to have anything to do with him. The government (Pheu Thaksin) set up CAPO, and Jatuprawn insists that only it can deal up with the situation. One ringtone to rule them all!
