Flashermac
Michael Yon on Facebook posted 5.05pm Situation in Bangkok becoming Volatile It is still safe to vacation here, but I strongly, emphatically suggest avoiding the current anti-coup protests. The chances for violence are extremely high. Much higher than just a few days ago. If General Prayuth and the military can keep this coup d'etat blood free, pay the rice farmers, and honestly work to reform the government, ultimately history likely will exonerate the coup d'etat decision. However, PTP, UDD, and Thaksin, all know they need blood to delegitimize the coup. If the Army shoots protestors -- no matter how violent those protestors may be -- there is a 99% chance that the Army will be judged by most media as murderers who violently seized power. If a foreigner insists on going to the protests, it is not safe to be with the Soldiers or with the protestors. Both are likely to take casualties.
