Some of the longer-serving members of the board do seem to be given more leeway in terms of their posts. Add to that the fact that several of the 'Old Hands' actually mix socially, and its understandable. I'm not implying that this is right or wrong - simply human nature. Lazyphil is right (he usually is ) - you have to be prepared to give as good as you get, then you'll become an old hand, and then ............ The problem is that many people feel that he is is a protected species here. There isn't much point standing up to someone when it isn't an even contest and the moderator always intervenes in favour of Fly. I moderate a very responsible Cambo board and this week a thread has started there with 34 posts so far complaining about Fly's lies, distortions and disinformation in relation to Cambodia. Many of the contributors to this thread are also members of this board who have simply got tired of being flamed by Fly either here or at Nanapong. Guest Posted July 22, 2002 Report Share Posted July 22, 2002 why don't you just tell your buddies instead of complaining about me on some other board to come here and challenge me here? sounds like a right circle jerk to me to gossip where i don't go. flamed by me? i am sarcastic, i give as hard as i get it, but if i flame someone my posts get deleted like everyone elses. i started off at the board here about a year ago where almost everyone hated me because of the extreme stand i take at some issues. but over the time people found out that what i post is no bull, that i am very accurate with what i post. also when i am wrong than i have no problems to say so. i remember some time ago flames against me on some cambodia boards where some twats made death threads against me, LOL! i don't remember having ever threatened anyone. in the cambodia discussion i post my experiences in cambodia, i can prove what i post, some of that prove i can't give on an open board, but anyone who doubts me is free to meet me. i will then present my prove (as long as a promise is made that my real identity is kept from the boards and from any conversation). apart from that, would you mind to keep our cambodia debate to one thread, preferably the one we started off in the board bar. it is very tiring to have the same debate going on in two different folders. If it's business occuring on another board, it belongs there, not here. Or take it to email. Don't piss away this board's bandwith or make extra work for your Moderators, please. < extra work for moderators... basically, in don't mean inviting flamewars. he talked about a board i do not visit, have never posted. i was once made aware of some guys flaming me on some of the cambodia related boards. it is a bit funny, those guys accusing me of lies where i can't bring up arguments against them, but too cowardish to talk facts on a board where flames are not tolerated, where you have to be reasonable in your discussions. speaks for itself somehow... email? no. the cambodia discussion should be done in the open in a reasonable way so that everyone can benefit from the different opinions and facts presented there. i am not gonna waste my time with people i most likely cannot convince in a reasonable discussion anyhow. i do those discussions so that potential visitors to cambodia get a different perspective than just the pornographic tripreports, can make up there own minds by judging the arguments presented. Guest Posted July 23, 2002 Report Share Posted July 23, 2002 you can find your answer in the other thread, the board bar, "ban cambodia". the reason i ask you for keeping it there is, that i do not see this discussion as a personal contest between us, but an issue debated many people can benefit from. it is a lot less confusing for them not to have to switch between folders to find the opposing party's answers to each other.
